Live Virtual Auction VB2 The Live Virtual Auction starts at noon 12:00 local auction time. Most auctions run once a week. Like Preliminary Bidding, there are advantages and disadvantages to bidding on the Live Virtual Auction. One disadvantage to bidding on the Live Virtual Auction is that if your computer or internet locks up during the auction, you will not be able to bid. The other disadvantage is there is a little more to learn before your start bidding. It is usually better to bid on the Live Virtual Auction if you are going to be bidding on multiple vehicles in the same auction. Preliminary bids tie up your money and vehicle count. Your bidding strategy may change depending on whether you win or lose the first vehicle. How to Bid on the Live Virtual Auction You must know two things before you go to the Virtual Live Auction. First you must know the item number, not the lot number, the item number. The item number represents the numerical run position and lane and are not always consecutive. The item number is found on the vehicle details page, on the right side below "Sale Time". The item number is normally issued two or three days before the auction. The next thing you need to know is the lane assignment. You can figure this out from the item number. It is very simple. Lane A is item numbers 1-2000, Lane B is item numbers 2001-3000, Lane C is item numbers 3001-4000, Lane D is 4001-5000, Basically Lane A has 2000 item numbers and the rest have 1000. We have a button to see the lane numbers on the Live Virtual Auction page. Now that you have the item number and lane assignment, you are ready to go to the Virtual Live Auction and bid! From Copart's home page hover over "Virtual Sales" and click on "Virtual Sales" in the drop down menu. On the Virtual Sales page, you can click the "Mini Screen" or "Full Screen" buttons across from the yard and lane that your vehicle will run in. When the video lane box opens up, you will see three changing numbers stacked together. If you left click on the top number, you will be entering that bid amount. The lower two numbers are for entering higher bid amounts. In our opinion you should only click on the top number. Why would you want to jump the bid $300 or $400? You might have won the bid with only a $50 or $100 increase. But the choice is yours. Remember,if you win the auction, you still may have to go through counter bidding if the vehicle was on "Minimum" or on "Approval". The seller must approve your winning bid. More information on this is under "Bidding"/ "Approval/Minimum". Advanced Bidding Tips Next, we have some advanced bidding tips that you may or may not want to use. These are not required. You can split the screen by putting two windows up at once. On one side you can put one or more running lanes "Mini Screens", and on the other side you can have the sales list. This way you can watch what is coming up, and even go to the vehicle page for a closer look at the vehicle. You can estimate the approximate time your vehicle is coming up for bid. Copart runs about 60 cars an hour. Click on the Virtual Sales button under the Virtual Sales dropdown. Then choose the auction where your vehicle will be run and click on the "Try New VB2" button. Here you will see the estimated time that your vehicle will come up. Good Luck Bidding! |
