Tips (We will continue to add to this page- work in progress) When starting a car at the Copart yard make sure the "Check Engine" light comes on with the key and goes off after the engine starts. This is called a monitor check. It is the computer checking the systems, and you can see it on your own car. If so equipped, the ABS and Air Bag lights should do the same thing. (Not all models) If any of these lights stay on after the engine starts, then there is a problem If you are picking up the vehicle or at the yard when your transporter is picking up the vehicle, you should take a quick walk around the car before signing the release. The forklift operator will be in a hurry, so you should only take a few moments. If you see any new damage or missing parts that can be verified, you can go into the office and ask for the general manager. You may have to sign the release for the forklift operator to leave the vehicle in the parking lot, but the main lesson here is...........once the vehicle leaves the parking lot all bets are off. |
